Opel was an independent car builder in Germany until the 1920s. Then it was integrated in the Chevrolet trust. The todays Opel Astra is currently sold in many countries all over the world. But in England it is called Vauxhall Astra, in Australia you can find it as Holden Astra and so on. Chevrolet took only one model under the name of a traditional car builders of each country. That saved a lot of the development costs.
